AICTE Approved 15 Months Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Executive PGDM )

The Institute is launching the 15 Months Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Management (approved by AICTE) from 21October 2013.

The 15 month Executive Post – Graduate Programme is designed for experienced executives who wish to take up leadership roles in the industry or have been identified by their organisations for such roles. This programme is one of the best choices for companies who want to sponsor executives for ‘Fast Track Leadership Programmes’ Programme. The programme has general management and functional area orientation .The programme would provide an opportunity for personal as well as professional growth through a rigorous interactive learning environment including a 2 week International Immersion Programme.
The program is approved by AICTE.
The aim of the program is to bridge the gap between the current skill level of executives and desired skills to play a larger role in management. The objectives of the programme are to:
» Supplement participants existing knowledge with current general management and functional area knowledge.
» Equip executives with management skills necessary for leadership roles.
» Enhance analytical skills of executives for effective decision making.
» Provide skills to handle cross-cultural issues for managing a business in global environment.
» Inculcate values and attitudes which contribute to a socially sensitive and ethical behaviour.
The Executive Post Graduate Programme is a full time program spread over 15 months. This includes one year of academic input, which includes two weeks of International Immersion Programme at an internationally reputed business school, and remaining three months are for a project work that can be conducted in the organisation where the participant is employed.
Eligibility for Admission
Eligible candidates must fulfil the following requirements:
» To be eligible for admission to the Executive PGDM Program, the participants must possess a Bachelors degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent in any discipline, recognised by the Association of Indian Universities for admission to post-graduate programs. The bachelors’ degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years education, after completing higher secondary schooling under the 10+2 system or equivalent.
» Minimum of 5 years of managerial/ supervisory experience.
Program is open to individuals who are:
» Company Sponsored from Private Sector/Public Sector/Government Department
» Entrepreneurs and those from Family owned businesses
» Persons of Indian Origin working for an organization or enterprise
» Defence Personnel who have retired or will be retiring shortly

» For all non sponsored candidates admission to the program is based on scores in the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by The Indian Institute of Management. For all such candidates IGSM will accept CAT scores for the year 2010 & 2011 besides 2012.
»Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are also eligible to apply based on their GMAT scores, provided they have taken the GMAT test not earlier than 31 July, 2010, and submit such scores while applying to IGSM.
» Candidates sponsored by PSU’s or Corporate Houses will be required to appear for the IGSM written test during September 2013 at IILM Graduate School of Management , Greater Noida.
» Test exemption may be considered with people with 7+ years of experience.
» Candidates sponsored by a PSU or Corporate House will be selected on the basis of information provided in the application form, their scores in the IGSM Admission Test, and Personal Interview.
» Candidates who are not sponsored will be shortlisted on the basis of information provided in the application form, CAT or GMAT score, educational background, marks in 10th, 12th, graduation , and work experience.
» Based on the above assessment, applicants will be called for a Personal Interview. Interviews will be held at IGSM, Greater Noida during September 2013.
» Experience certificate, certified copy of GMAT / CAT scorecard, and Sponsorship letter (if applicable) would be required to be submitted, at the time of interview.
Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IGSM.
» Admission offer will be based on the assessment made during the selection process, as given above.
» In the case of PSU/Corporate House sponsored candidates, the sponsoring authority will be notified. Sponsoring organizations will confirm in writing the names of candidates who will finally be joining the program, within two weeks of the communication of the result.
» Offer letters to non sponsored applicants will be dispatched, to the mailing address provided in the application form. Successful candidates will be required to pay the 1st instalment of fee within two weeks of the date of issue of the offer, failing which the offer shall stand cancelled and admission will be automatically offered to the next candidate on the waiting list.
1. Programme Structure
This programme follows a six-segment academic course structure followed by three months project work that can be conducted in the organisation where the participant is employed.
The segments are :

(iii) Preparing for Higher Management
(iv) International Immersion (optional)
Induction: Spread over two and a half days, it gives the students a chance to get familiar with the infrastructure, co-curricular and extra- curricular activities, while tuning into the programme content. It also helps the student to understand the self while making the transition to the Executive PGDM and the future.
Building Blocks: The core segment gives the participants a rigorous grounding in the fundamentals of management. It enhances their basic conceptual and analytical knowledge, pre-disposing them for managerial effectiveness.
Preparing for Higher Management: This segment further develops the participants ‘ skills, enabling them to better understand the complex management problems. It also prepares them for visionary leadership, being change agents and playing a role at the top.
International Immersion: Participants are immersed in two intensive weeks of academics in an international location. This segment equips participants with understanding of macro-level dynamics and unfamiliar economic environment in a foreign country. However, if participants are unable to go for the International Immersion, they can opt for an comprehensive Individual Research Project. The Project can be a Sectoral Report, or a Case with Analysis or some research project assigned by a faculty requiring analysis of primary and secondary data.
Electives: The participants are offered a wide range of elective courses including on marketing, finance, supply chain management, strategic management and various sectoral areas. While electives depend on student interest and faculty expertise, this allows students the freedom of electives, making every student’s experience unique and customized to his or her chosen growth path. It is also an opportunity to explore new areas of learning.
As part of the ‘electives’ segment, or in-lieu of International Immersion students can opt for an Individual Research Project (IRP). The project is executed by Executive PGDM participants with a faculty advisor. The result is a high quality written output, which could be any of
» A Case with Analysis.
» An Industry Note.
» A paper focusing on a socio economic divide affecting the world.
» A business plan for an entrepreneur.
Capstone: A finale as an encapsulation of the learning experience, this segment provides an opportunity to integrate learning from the entire programme, reflect on one’s own experience as an executive and understand what it means to work in large, multidisciplinary teams facing tough deadlines.
Overview of International Immersion
Students spend two weeks of academics in an international location. The segment equips students to understand macro-level dynamics and unfamiliar environments in a foreign country.
» The Institutions for the International Immersion will be shortlisted by the Director and will be circulated to the students for final selection.
» The IIP is an academic activity which is graded.
» All students should complete all formalities related to the IIP within one week of their return from the foreign destinations.
Students shall fulfil the requirements of the host institutions as per their norms for completing the evaluations in time.
Students who do not opt for International Immersion will be given an Individual Research Project to be submitted.
Overview of Capstone
This is the last segment of the academic programme in which students participate in a Business Simulation game. This is an academic activity and is graded. It is offered in Term V and is equivalent to 20 sessions. This segment provides an opportunity for students to integrate the learning from the entire programme, reflect on one’s own experience as an executive and understand what it means to work in large, multi-disciplinary teams facing tough deadlines.
Tentative List of Electives
The participants are offered a wide range of elective courses including on marketing, finance, supply chain management, strategic management and various sectoral areas. While electives depend on student interest and faculty expertise, this allows students the freedom of electives, making every student’s experience unique and customized to his or her chosen growth path. It is also an opportunity to explore new areas of learning.
Project Work (3 Months)
The project/field work will be conducted at the place of employment of the participant where they will be working after completing their 12 months of course work. The project will be jointly guided by IGSM faculty and a project supervisor from the employer organization. The field project is the most important single component of work in the Executive PGDM program. It provides the opportunity for the students to demonstrate their independence and originality, to plan and organize a large project and to put into practice some of the techniques they have been taught throughout the 12-month course. Successful completion of the Field Project is an essential requirement for qualifying for the Executive-PGDM Diploma.
Teaching pedagogy would include case-based learning, class discussions, assignments, field projects, seminars/workshops, management games, role-plays and simulation based learning. IGSM also organizes number of industry interactions to offer real life experiential learning environment.
Fee structure for Executive PGDM
The fee structure for self-sponsored /company sponsored and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) students for Executive-PGDM batch 2013-14 is Rs 9 Lakh excluding International Immersion of 2 weeks. This includes tuition fee, books and course material, library, computing and network charges, stay and food charges. Taxes, if any, will be additional .The charges on account of International Immersion will be on actual basis. The International Immersion programme typically costs Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh . IILM will provide 2-3 options with partner schools and will guide participants to choose.The fee (other than International Immersion) can be paid in one-lump sum or three equal instalments. Wherever MOUs are signed between IILM Graduate School of Management and sponsoring organisations, MOU fees shall be applicable.
The fee is to be paid through demand draft/pay order drawn in favour of “IILM Graduate School of Management” payable at Greater Noida. A penalty of Rs.100 per day, beyond the period specified above from 2nd instalment onwards, will be charged in the event the fee is not paid within the due dates, unless express permission has been obtained from the competent authority.
